We seek projects that are relevant and significantly impactful in breaking down barriers to participation for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their families.

Our Research Areas of Focus includes Hearing Health, Hearing Science, Deaf Studies and Quality of Life. Click Here for more information about our Research Areas of Focus.

Eligible applicants must be from not-for profit institutions. Principal Investigators must be based within a Canadian university or affiliated institution (i.e., teaching hospital) or other community based not-for-profit organizations, or a CHS recognized Deaf/hard of hearing institution/organization.

Applications can request up to $50,000 per year, for up to two years.

Applications are a two-step process, including a Letter of Intent (LOI) and a Full Application (FA). LOIs will be reviewed for alignment to our Areas of Focus and potential for impact to the Deaf and hard of hearing communities. Only approved LOIs will be invited to the Full Application stage.

Full Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the CHS Global Partnerships Grant Review Panel (GRP).

Highly ranked applications, which are deemed meritorious for funding, will be recommended for approval to the Research and Innovation Advisory Council (RIAC) who will ensure prioritized proposals are in alignment with our Areas of Focus.

Funding recommendations will be presented to the Board of Directors who will make the final award decisions.
